In Malaysia, the sport of football is also well known and captured in the popular zeitgeist. Especially the Malaysian Premier League, FA Cup, Super Cup are the core of the national culture.

A sign that sports has become part of pop culture is the prominence of certain star players. David Beckham and Christian Ronaldo, for example, are recognizable around the world.
